Elorza and City Council President Sabina Matos announced today that local ReThinkPVD free two-hour parking in designated commercial districts will be extended through January 1, 2021. Two-hour free parking will also be available on Angell Street and Waterman Street in addition to the previously outlined Providence business corridors. Any business that has applied and been approved for a seasonal outdoor expansion will be given an extension to that expansion through the calendar year in an effort to increase safe and accessible outdoor opportunities. Elorza today announced that beginning this week, city buildings will change the one day of closure for cleaning from Wednesdays to Fridays. City buildings will offer in-person city services Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30AM to 4:30PM, with the exception of the Department of Public Works providing counter service from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM on operational days. On operational days, each department will be staffed at half capacity to comply with social distancing guidelines. Elorza, Children’s Friend CEO and President David Caprio, Children’s Friend parent Ana Echavarria de Saquic, and community members in announcing the recipients of grants totaling nearly $600,000 to improve early learning childcare facilities.
